Yard Progress

Yay! Our yard is coming along! This past fall we hired someone to take out all of the shrubs on both sides of the house, and everything from the backyard (except the redtips and crepe myrtles). We had one of our beds relandscaped a couple of weekends ago, and this past Saturday Stan and I planted another bed in the backyard. We have 4 beds in the backyard, and two of them are now planted! We planted double knock-out roses in one bed, and nandina's under the crepe myrtles. I can't wait to plant Encore Azeleas this fall. They are so pretty! Our yard is becoming an oasis! :) Next summer I look forward to sitting with my feet propped up, sipping on a drink, looking at our beautiful backyard.

Looking for a rug

Anyone know of a great place to buy rugs? I'm needing one for my sunroom so it needs to be pretty casual - no wool or anything hot. I've found one at Home Depot that will work, but want to continue looking before making the final decision. Speaking of the sunroom, we are waiting for the slipcovers for the love seat and ottoman. We ordered them, they came, and were too small. So back to the company they went. Hopefully they will fit when they are returned. Once the slipcovers come the room will pretty much be finished, except for accessories.

Now on to the next project - the yard! We had a landscaper landscape our east bed yesterday and it looks so much better! In the fall we had all of the shrubs removed from both sides of the house and everything removed from the backyard. My husband and I (as with all projects we do) ambitiously thought we could do all of the relandscaping. We have since rethought that idea and hired a landscaper for the bed on the east side of the house but still think we can do the back. We'll see. The beds in the back are small so that's why we think we can do them. If nothing else I can start getting ideas of what I want back there, then either start planting in the spring, or find someone to plant for us. It's just so expensive to relandscape. Or do anything other home improvement. But it has been fun and we are making the house our own. And learning alot in the process! :)

Blueberry Picking

A couple of weekends ago my husband, friends, and I went to Edom, Tx to pick blueberries. If you're ever looking for a fun day trip and want to get out of the city, I would totally recommend going. Edom is close to Van, Tx and Canton, so if it's First Monday, you could stop by Canton either going or coming. You pick your own blueberries, or they do have some they have picked if you don't want to pick them yourself. Part of the fun though is picking them. Now what to do with them?? They have everything blueberry you can imagine - blueberrry pie, ice cream, lemonade, perserves....I LOVE blueberries, so it was absolute blueberrry heaven for me! Here's the link if you want to see what they have and where it is.

Sunroom Progress

Well, here is the latest on the sunroom. The walls are painted and I have painted the first coat of trim. This afternoon I plan to finish the second coat. I was planning on finishing earlier in the week, but Sunday evening my brother had a stroke. So I have been with him and my mom at the hospital for the past several days. He's only 49 years old, so if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol (which he does) please take care of yourself. He is now in a rehab center close to where my mom lives in Sherman. Good news is that he can recover, but there will be permanent damage. We have been very blessed and it has been amazing seeing God provide, and seeing His goodness during this. Everything has fallen into place and been easy. Plus people have been great. So back to the sunroom I head this afternoon, hoping the slipcovers for the loveseat will arrive today!!
