Summer Project

One of my summer projects is to paint our sunroom. We've decided on using the top color. Now my decision is whether or not to lighten the color or use as is. I'm trying to create a relaxing, cozy room. I've primed the walls and woodwork, so next step is to start painting.

  5. Why did you opt to prime the walls instead of just paint them? Did you have a previous paint color on there? We have painted a number of rooms (and will paint a few more I'm sure) and I'm curious to know the benefits to priming. At least, if it's worth the effort.

  6. We did have previous paint color on the walls. We have painted every room in our house except the TV rooms and guest baths (which we'll get to later). What we found was if you don't prime the walls it can change the color you want to paint them. If the color currently on the wall is light, it probably won't matter so much. But we did notice a difference with the new color between a primed and non-primed wall. Good luck painting!
